Verse Two

Verse Two
Written at Anna’s request to fit a piece of music she composed to the short poem of the first stanza, author unknown.

If kisses were raindrops
i’d send you showers.
If hugs were seconds
i’d send you showers.
If smiles were water
i’d send you the sea.
If love were a person
i’d send you me.

If you find a desert
instead of the rain,
if moments are all
of time that remains,
if the waves drag you
into a dark sea,
take heart and don’t fear dearest,
hold hands with me.

For Lynn:
I will stand and hold back
any little piece of the dark I can
for as long as it takes
for you to get home.

I see you shattered,
your light scattered,
your faith battered,
and everything that matters
suddenly shaky.

I see you scared
caught unprepared,
you're unaware
of all that's been spared
from the darkness.

I see you crawling
endlessly falling
and sprawling,
not sure as you're calling
who's even listening.

I see you screaming
waking dreaming
disbelieving,
limitless tears streaming
unfathomably alone.

I see you pleading,
heart bleeding,
desperately needing
Him to be leading
you to safety.

I have been these places
and I will break with you,
crawl with you,
scream with you
and plead with you.
I am not afraid
because I know where He is
and I will give you his hand.
